CANACONA: Finally, one of the two long-distance trains has resumed its Stoppages/ Halts for the First-time since the announcement of the resumption of long-distance Train Halts at Canacona on Sunday (2nd April 2023).
As of 3rd April morning, the Nethravati Express train has already made three stoppages/halts at Canacona KRC Station, with the first Nethravati Train (16346) Trivandrum-LTT (Mumbai) making a brief Halt of 2m at about 3.55 am in wee hours of Sunday morning (02-04-2023).
The LTT-Trivandrum Nethravati Express (16345) made its first halt late Sunday night (about 11.30 pm) at Canacona KRC Station, and the Nethravati Train (16346) Trivandrum-LTT made its halt for the second time at 3.55 am at wee hours of Monday.
Interestingly, Canacona MLA and GLA Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar sought permission from Regional Traffic Manager (KRC) Karwar Region to allow him five minutes to Flag-off the Nethravati Express (16345) bound for Trivandrum bound at about 11:30 pm on Sunday (020/4/2023 however, failed to turn up at Canacona KRC station late Sunday night.
According to Station Master, at Canacona KRC Station, permission was granted to allow an extended halt/stoppage of 5 minutes to the LTT-Trivandrum Nethravathi Express (16345) on Sunday late night to hold a brief flag-off function by the Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar. ‘We got the permission for the extended halt. However, the Speaker or anyone from the Speaker’s office failed to turn up, and the train was allowed to proceed after its scheduled halt of 2 minutes at about 11.30 pm on Sunday night at Canacona KRC Station’, the Station Master informed.-
According to sources, Tawadkar’s office has written a letter to the Regional Traffic Manager (KRC) Karwar Region to allow him five minutes to Flag-off the Nethravathi Express (16345) bound for Trivandrum bound at about 11:30 pm on Sunday (020/4/2023). And if the same sources are to be believed, Tawadkar, along with his supporters, will be at the Railway Station to hold a brief program on Sunday night.
Meanwhile, the LTT (Mumbai) bound Nethravathi ExpressTrain (16346), which had already left Trivandrum on Saturday, had become the first train to make the stoppage/halt after its scheduled arrival at about 3.55 am Sunday morning and left for Margao after a making a halt of 2 minutes.
Interestingly, the sources further informed that, though the long-distance two trains will begin their halts/stops at KRC Station, Canacona, from Sunday, the KRC Station Canacona has not issued any Reservation Tickets for on either way to any of the two Nethravathi Express trains plying daily towards LTT(Mumbai Train no. 16346) or Trivandrum (Kerala Train no.16345). Commuters who approached for Tickets at the reservations counter at Canacona KRC Station that the trains would only halt, allowing passengers to board (ascend) and deboard (descend) the trains. No Seats are reserved for Canacona Station, and only General tickets are being issued, and commuters are advised to book reserved tickets online on irctc.com.in.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Tawadkar is expected and looking forward to flag –off the first halt of the weekly Gandhidham-Nagercoil Express train (16335), which is scheduled to arrive at Canacona KRC Station at about 10.30 am on Wednesday(5th April’ 2023)
