CANACONA: Foundation Stone was laid for four different conversions of existing 33KV and 11 KV overhead network to underground network worth 150 cr of rupees in Canacona on Saturday.
Power Minister Sudhin Dhavalikar assured that though the works while executing may hinder normal life and inconvenience a few, will be completed in six months time.
In the absence of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, the Foundation Stone plaque was opened at the hands of Speaker and Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar and Power Minister Ramkrishna alia Sudin M Dhavalikar and Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa for the works of Conversion of existing 33KV DC OH Network to Underground Cabling network emanating from 220/33KV Cuncolim Sub-Station to 33/11KV Canacona Substation (Costing 44,97,60,972/-), Conversion of existing 11KV HT OH Network to 11KV HT Underground Cabling Network in Poinguinim and Loliem VP Areas (worth Rs. 36,66,24,490/-0, Conversion of existing 11 KV HT Overhead Network to 11KV HT Underground Cabling Network in Agonda and khola VP Areas(which are part of Canacona and Quepem constituencies) (worth Rs. 63,83,30,343/-) and Conversion of existing 11KV Overhead Network of Marli Tirval Feeder to Underground HT Cabling Network from Amona junction to Marli Tirwal (worth Rs.5,39,61,096/-).
The underground cabling will benefit and bring respite from frequent power breakdowns to over 9000 Consumers in the villages of Loliem-Polem, Poinguinim, Agonda and Khola.
In his welcome address Superintendent Engineer (Electricity) Rajiv R Samant reiterated government’s commitment to to provide uninterrupted power supply for all the 365 days of the year, before the quests were presented flower Pots, and the guests proceeded to lit the traditional lamp and thereafter the Foundation Stone plaque was unveiled on the Dais itself to mark the foundation stone laying of all the Four projects ceremony at the venue of the function at Government Higher Secondary School, Mastimoll.
Chief Electrical Engineer Stephen Fernandes providing an in depth into the power scenario of the state, how and who is generating the power, and how the State of Goa imports it from the concerned States and how State of Goa is in dire need to draw more power to make our State sustainable in power consumption criticized people opposing the Tamnar project. ‘Out State cannot simply give up on the Tamnar project. The Tamnar project is imported and it will happen.’ Fernandes informed another over four crores worth underground cabling is coming up at Keri (Khotigao village), making the overall underground cabling networks in Canacona to 155 crores of rupees.
In order to streamline proper power supply to some of the distant areas where the low voltage causes issues to consumers, demands were made to put up 33/11 KV Sub-Stations at Madditolop (Loleim-Polem), Agonda-Khola area and Mone (in Khotigao).
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa made demands for compassionate appointments to the family members of electricity staff who died in Harness. ‘I have 3-4 cases in my constituency where the family member died while discharging his duty’.
While Canacona Municipal Council Chairperson Ramakant Naikgaunkar and all the Ruling councillors were conspicuous by their absence , ZP(Khola) Shanu Velip, Shobhana Velip (Poinguinim). Sarpanchas of Khola (Krishna Velip) Agonda (Preettal Fernandes), Shristhal ( Sejal Gaonkar), Khotigao (Anandu Dessai) Loliem – Polem (Nisha Chari) and Dy. Sarpanch of Poinguinim (Sunil Paingankar) were present on the Dais beises Canacona BJP Mandal President Vishal Dessai. While a lone CMC Councillor Pandurang aliaa Dhiraj Naikgaunkar was seen amongst the audience, it is learnt that the ruling CMC councillor skipped the function in protest of failure to mention the name Chairperson in the invitation Card.
Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar, Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa and including Chief Electrical Engineer Stephen Fernandes, SE Rajiv Samant and Canaocna Asstt. Engr (Electricity) Govind Bhat and a few of the officers of Electricity Department were felicitated at the hands of Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, while Speaker Tawadkar himself was facilitated at the function by power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on behalf of Department of Electricity. Executive Engineer Diogo Coutinho, besides other officers of the Electricity Department were present. Assistant Canacona Govind Bhat proposed vote of Thanks.
