CANACONA: Amidst reported Saffron party plans of fielding a woman candidate for South-Goa Lok Sabha seat and the rumors doing round that the name of Savita Tawadkar, Poinguinim Sarpanch and wife of Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, has expressed her willingness to accept South Goa BJP ticket.
Savita says that if her name is being discussed as a probable BJP candidate and claimant for South-Goa parliamentary seat, she is willing to accept the privilege as BJP’s woman candidate from South Goa.
When asked how she feels about her name being reportedly discussed in BJP party circles as one of the probable candidate to contest South Goa Parliamentary Seat for BJP, said ‘I have not received any such intimation officially from the party, so won’t be able to comment much on it.”
She added, “…as a servant of the party, I do serve to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and I work as Sarpanch, and if I get an opportunity to serve even more and probably contest and win Lok Sabha seat for the party, I don’t find any reason to say ‘No’.”
She said that with her candidature Canconcars will get due representation.
“I will get an opportunity to serve under the honorable prime minister. I will be happy, but more importantly it will be party’s decision and if party says so, I am all willing to contest and win,” she said.
When asked how much she is certain of getting the ticket since, besides her name (wife of Speaker), the names of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant’s Wife Sulochana Sawant and Ex-Dy. Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar’s wife Savitri Kavlekar are also in the fray for South Goa BJP candidature, she said, “I am again say I have not received anything officially from the party nor I have thought of it anytime before.”
However, she said, if party has taken my name as Woman candidate for South Goa, I feel previledged that name of a Canacona woman is also there. And if party finally decides to field me, I don’t think there will be any difficulty to win the seat for the party.”
