MARGAO: Sporting Club Virabhat got the better of Madel Sports Club 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 1st Caniza Peixoto Memorial Football Tournament, organised by Agxem Sports Club and played at St.Alex Church ground custom.
Sporting club Virabhat were in an attacking mood from the word go they tried to score goals and were succeeded when Joslan Fernandes’s powerful right-footer from a 30-yard crush in the net gave no chance to Madel goalkeeper while Maxwell of Madel’s right footer from the box missed the frame and Sporting Club Virabhat were leading by 1-0 at half time.
After the resumption of the second half Madel changed their plans and strategy then Asher was well fed by Velister who slotted past Virabhat’s goalkeeper to level the score 1-1 while Sporting club Virabhat took control and scored two goals through Joslan Fernandes who completed his brace and Ricee fernandes added one during injury time.
Joslan Fernandes of Virabhat was awarded man of the match by Caitan Marian Gomes, former player of Agxem sports club.
