PORVORIM: This year, 95.35 per cent of students cleared the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination conducted by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE).
In 2023, 92.38 per cent of students had cleared Board exams, while in 2024, it was 92.38 per cent.
This year, a total of 18,838 regular students appeared for the Goa SSC examinations. Out of these, 9,280 were boys and 9,558 were girls.
As an annual trend, the results saw girls outshining boys with an overall passing percentage of 95.71 per cent.
On the other hand, 8814 boys cleared the assessment at a passing percentage of 94.98 per cent.
The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) conducted the Class 10 (SSC) exams for the year 2025 from March 1 to March 21 across 32 examination centres in the state.
Bicholim taluka had the highest pass percentage of 98.50%. Mormugao had the lowest pass percentage of 92.97%.
The highest number of students 3,617appeared from Salcete and the pass percentage registered was 94.65%. 214 students cleared the Goa Board Class X exam with the help of sports merit marks
To pass the exams, students must secure a minimum of 33% marks in both theory and practical exams separately. If a student fails to meet the required marks, they are given the chance to appear for a supplementary exam.
This year, the exam saw a diverse group of candidates, including 575 fresh private candidates, 39 private candidates with exemptions, 8,687 students enrolled in NQSF (Non-Qualifying Subject) subjects, 10 ITI candidates, 494 candidates with Children with Special Needs (CWSN) support, 19 regular repeater candidates, 359 regular repeater candidates with exemptions, 7,926 regular fresh students under the RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan) pursuing other NQSF subjects, and 761 students studying Astronomy.
In 2024, a total of 18,914 students appeared for the Goa Board SSC exams, with 17,473 passing, leading to a pass percentage of 92.38%.
