PANAJI: Reaffirming Goa’s commitment to eliminating tuberculosis, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said the state is strengthening early detection, free treatment, and community outreach under the TB Mukt Bharat mission. He stressed that tuberculosis is fully curable and that timely testing and completion of treatment remain key to saving lives and reducing transmission.
“TB is curable. Treatment is free. Early action saves lives. Goa continues to lead from the front with advanced diagnostics, AI-powered screening, and strong last-mile outreach to ensure early detection and timely care. Every patient is supported with free diagnosis, medicines, nutritional assistance, and counseling. The fight against TB is not just medical, it is social and humane,” Rane said.
He added that recognition under the TB Mukt Panchayat initiative reflects grassroots commitment and active participation by local bodies, health workers, and communities. With increased awareness and improved screening, the state has been steadily working toward reducing TB cases.
The Health Minister also urged residents to seek immediate testing if they experience symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, or unexplained weight loss. “Do not delay. Completing the full course of treatment cures TB and prevents further spread. Together, we will make Goa TB-free,” he said.
Health authorities noted that free testing and treatment services are available across government facilities, with additional support including nutritional aid and counseling to ensure patients complete therapy successfully.
