Panaji: The Department of Tourism, Government of Goa welcomed a 12 member delegation from Almaty, Kazakhstan, at Paryatan Bhavan in Panaji during their eight day visit to the state. The guests were received with flowers in a traditional gesture that reflected Goa’s emphasis on warm hospitality and meaningful travel experiences.
Senior officials present to greet the delegation included Assistant Director of Tourism Jayesh Kankonkar, Deputy General Manager Marketing at the Goa Tourism Development Corporation Deepak Narvekar, Assistant Tourist Officer Chitra Vengurlekar and Senior Manager Pravin Phaldesai, along with other representatives from the department.
The group was brought to Goa by Caper Travel, with Executive Director Abida Kumar and Senior Vice President Goa Charters Egbert Dias accompanying the visitors.
Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte stated that Goa continues to focus on expanding its presence in emerging international markets. He noted that such exchanges help build traveller confidence, deepen engagement and showcase the state’s diverse tourism offerings. The government, he added, remains committed to ensuring a safe, welcoming and enriching environment for all visitors.
Director of Tourism Kedar Naik said the department looks forward to fostering stronger tourism ties with Kazakhstan through sustained interaction and collaboration.
As part of the visit, a detailed presentation was delivered highlighting Goa’s cultural heritage, festivals, wellness and spiritual tourism, hinterland experiences, adventure activities and premium hospitality. The initiative aligns with the broader objective of positioning Goa as a year round destination beyond its beaches.
During their stay, the delegation will explore curated experiences across the state, gaining exposure to local traditions, cuisine and evolving tourism initiatives. The visit is expected to further enhance tourism cooperation between Goa and Kazakhstan while strengthening the state’s international outreach efforts.
