Panaji: Goa endured another difficult outing in the Women’s Under 15 One Day Trophy Elite as they suffered a comprehensive 10 wicket defeat against Hyderabad on Sunday at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. The loss marked Goa’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament and highlighted persistent struggles with both bat and ball.
After winning the toss, Goa chose to bat first but failed to build any meaningful partnerships, getting bowled out for 88 runs in 30.4 overs. Hyderabad’s disciplined bowling kept constant pressure on the Goa batters, leading to regular wickets and preventing any recovery. Norah D’Souza emerged as the top scorer for Goa with 16 runs, while Joya Meer contributed 14 and Shreeshtika Shivarkar added 13. Apart from these modest contributions, the batting line-up lacked stability and momentum.
Hyderabad’s bowlers dominated proceedings, with Ananya Dandu and Shaik Aisha delivering standout performances. Both bowlers claimed four wickets each, dismantling Goa’s middle and lower order and ensuring the opposition was dismissed well short of a competitive total. Support from the rest of the bowling unit further tightened the grip, leaving Goa with limited scoring opportunities.
In response, Hyderabad made light work of the target, reaching 93 runs without losing a wicket in just 16.5 overs. Openers P. Shanvi and Bhavishya Reddy produced a flawless batting display, stitching together an unbeaten partnership to seal the win comfortably. Bhavishya Reddy played the more aggressive role, finishing on 55 not out, while P. Shanvi provided steady support with an unbeaten 37.
For the second match in succession, Goa’s bowlers were unable to claim a single wicket, underlining the challenges the team faces in breaking partnerships and applying pressure during the chase. Despite trying multiple bowling options, Hyderabad’s batters remained untroubled throughout the innings.
Goa will now look to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next fixture against Jharkhand on the 6th, hoping to reverse their fortunes and get their campaign back on track in the ongoing tournament.
