MAPUSA: Taking note of the viral video wherein two children are seen sleeping on sunroof, Goa Police lodged a case in this connection and laid charges against the driver. An FIR has been registered at the Mapusa police station and efforts are on to find the man seen in the video.
Police said the incident took place on December 27 at Madani in Parra village near Mapusa.
The man who shot the video can be seen asking the driver about children on the rooftop but the latter drives past without bothering to answer, police said.
The video quickly went viral and has sparked widespread concern and outrage regarding the safety of the involved children.
The video shows a black Mahindra XUV moving on the Parra Coconut Tree road, a popular tourist destination in Goa, with two young kids lying on top of the vehicle. The children appeared to sleeping an showed no signs of distress even though they were lying on a moving vehicle.
Further into the video, a person alarmed by the sight stops and confronts the driver about his reckless behaviour to which the man tried to brush it away while reversing his car to take a u-turn. The video then ends without providing information on what transpired later.
A number of people on X reacted with shock and outrage and called for strict action to be taken against the man for endangering the children’s safety.
