PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant today said the Goa government is firmly focused on empowering farmers, fishermen, artisans, entrepreneurs, and rural youth to build vibrant villages and strengthen the rural economy, as the State moves towards the goals of Swayampurna Goa and Viksit Goa 2037.
Speaking at a NABARD seminar, the Chief Minister said Goa is gearing up for its next phase of inclusive development with special emphasis on agriculture, rural enterprises, cooperatives, and the empowerment of youth and women.
He underlined that strong village-level economies and resilient MSMEs are key to sustainable growth.
Dr Sawant highlighted the government’s efforts to promote green energy, support micro, small and medium enterprises, and encourage innovation in rural areas.
He said focused interventions in agriculture and allied sectors would enhance livelihoods, reduce migration, and ensure balanced development across the State.
The Chief Minister also stressed the role of institutions like NABARD in strengthening cooperatives, providing credit support, and enabling skill development, which he said are crucial for creating self-reliant communities.
Reiterating the government’s long-term vision, Dr Sawant said the collective efforts of farmers, entrepreneurs, women, and youth will play a decisive role in transforming Goa into a self-sustaining and developed State by 2037.
