PANAJI: Ahead of the physical operation of Mopa Airport, Goa Electronics Limited (GEL) today has formally made the Goa Taxi APP available for taxi drivers for registration purposes.
The first flight is scheduled to land at Manohar International Airport on January 5, 2023.
GTDC has invited taxi drivers with All Goa Tourist/ All India Permit to register for the GTDC taxi counter at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, via the app or the Goa Tourism website.
The initial information available states that preference will be given to taxi operators from Pernem who have required PRO permits as on December 31 2022.
The Goa taxi app has been developed by Goa Electronics Limited (GEL).
Once the app is launched, taxi owners and operators will have to migrate to the app to provide better services to tourists.
The app proposal, however, is yet to be approved by the State Cabinet.
As per sources, close to 150 taxi operators from Mandrem have already registered themselves, while those from Pernem are up in arms against the facility.
Apart from taxis, government-run KTC buses will also be plying from the airport to ferry the passengers.
