PANAJI: The State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) today announced the schedule for the first Goa Teacher Eligibility Test (GTET) . The test will be held on Nov 21, 2021.
Persons desirous to be teachers in Classes I to VIII (elementary) in Goa shall be required to qualify the GTET. Separate tests will be held for class I to V teachers and Class VI to VIII on the same day.
The GTET shall apply to schools of the govt of Goa, schools aided by govt of Goa, schools aided by other local bodies and private schools under the administrative control of the govt of Goa.
As per the provision of the Right to Education (RTE) Act, it is essential for a teacher to qualify in the test to be employed to teach from Classes I to VIII. But for several years, Goa had not implement this requirement.
A person must score 60% or at least 90 out of 150 marks in the test to pass. SCERT will issue certificates to all successful candidates qualifying in the GTET.
“The certificate shall be valid for life time. There is no restriction on the number of attempts a person can take for acquiring a GTET certificate. A person who has qualified GTET may also appear again for improving his/her score,” a notification issued in this regards by the state last week had stated.
