Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant chaired a high-level meeting at the Police Headquarters in Panaji on Thursday to review the progress of border check post infrastructure and enforcement systems across Goa. Senior officials including the IGP, DIG, Director of Transport, SP North Goa, SP Transport, PWD’s Principal Chief Engineer, and representatives from the ITG and Traffic Department were present.
During the meeting, Dr Sawant assessed the status of infrastructure development at key border points—Patradevi and Keri in North Goa, and Mollem and Polem in South Goa—being carried out by the Public Works Department. He also took stock of the land availability for developing way-side public amenities and Indian Oil petrol pumps at these strategic points.
The review included a presentation on the progress of a new enforcement application by the Information Technology Goa (ITG), along with rollout plans and officer training modules presented by SP Traffic. Discussions also covered an integrated public awareness strategy to inform citizens and tourists about updated border compliance protocols.
In a significant step toward curbing misuse of private vehicles in commercial operations, the Chief Minister directed the Transport Department to initiate an ordinance for license cancellation of rent-a-car and rent-a-bike operators violating permit norms.
Additionally, a statewide green initiative titled “Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam” will soon be launched at all police stations across Goa, with an aim to promote environmental consciousness and tree plantation in memory of mothers.
Dr Sawant emphasized that the Goa Government is committed to developing a “seamless, transparent and citizen-friendly mobility and enforcement ecosystem” at the state’s borders through smart technology, better infrastructure, and a responsive enforcement framework.
