PANAJI: Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on December 19, will visit Goa and attend a programme commemorating Goa Liberation Day at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium at about 3 p.m.
As per the statement issued by the PMO, on this occasion, the Prime Minister will honour the freedom fighters and veterans of ‘Operation Vijay.’ Every year on December 19, Goa Liberation Day commemorates the triumph of the Indian Armed Forces’ ‘Operation Vijay,’ which freed Goa from Portuguese domination.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the rebuilt Fort Aguada Jail Museum, the Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College, the New South Goa District Hospital, the Aviation Skill Development Center at Mopa Airport, and the Gas Insulated Substation at Dabolim-Navelim, Margao.
He will also lay the foundation stone for the Bar Council of India Trust’s India International University of Legal Education and Research in Goa.
According to the official press release, the Prime Minister has prioritised modernising medical infrastructure and providing world-class medical facilities across the country.
To assist this goal, the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana initiative erected the Super Speciality Block at Goa Medical College & Hospital at the cost of over Rs 380 crores.
As per the press release, it is Goa’s only state-of-the-art super speciality hospital, providing high-end super speciality services. Angioplasty, bypass surgery, liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, and dialysis will all be available. Under PM-CARES, a 1000 LPM PSA plant will be erected in the Super Specialty Block.
