PANAJI: For the first time, students of Classes III to VIII across all aided and unaided schools affiliated with the Goa Board will appear for a common examination starting October, authorities announced.
The exams will be conducted simultaneously according to a unified timetable, with question papers prepared by the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT).
Meghna Shetgaonkar, SCERT director, said exams for Classes III and IV are scheduled from October 9 to 15, while those for Classes V to VIII will be held between October 7 and 15.
The initiative aims to “bring uniformity and standardisation” in student assessment, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. While SCERT will set the question papers, individual schools will manage the conduct of the exams, evaluation, and reporting of results.
Around 50 unaided schools have also chosen to follow SCERT’s schedule and adopt the common question papers.
All schools are expected to strictly adhere to the detailed timetable for their respective grades.
