PONDA: The Goa Tourism Department is set to launch one of its most ambitious initiatives with the establishment of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Digital Museum at Farmagudi, Ponda.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte announced the project, which is being implemented under a Central Government scheme.
The museum will be developed over a 29,212 sq. metre area, encompassing the existing fort site. It is envisioned as a flagship cultural and tourism landmark for the state.
The project has received a total sanctioned amount of ₹125.59 crore, with ₹179 crore allocated by the Centre and ₹28 crore contributed by the State Government. It is expected to be completed by March–April 2026.
“This will be one of the iconic projects of Goa Tourism, blending history, heritage, and technology,” said Khaunte, highlighting the museum’s role in enhancing Goa’s cultural tourism offerings.
