CURCHOREM: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has announced the establishment of a new facility for the Legal Metrology Department at Curchorem, which will feature a modern working standards laboratory.
The project has been realized with financial support from the Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 1st National Conference on Legal Metrology 2025 in Goa, attended by Union Minister Pralhad Joshi.
Speaking at the event, Joshi highlighted Goa’s positive environment for promoting consumer rights and stressed that the primary focus of the Legal Metrology Department is to safeguard consumers and raise awareness about legal metrology, which plays a crucial role in daily life.
Urging inspectors to adopt a more educational approach, Joshi emphasized the importance of informing and guiding the public rather than causing inconvenience. The new premises are expected to strengthen regulatory measures and ensure accurate standards in trade and commerce across the state.
