PANAJI: Goa is set to host the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour (BPT) Goa Challenge 2023 organised by Volleyball World (VW) in collaboration with FIVB, the event will take place at Varca Beach from October 19.
The tournament will feature 32 international teams in the qualification draw, with representation from 40 countries across five continents including the USA, Canada, China, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Portugal and New Zealand. Jit Arolkar, MLA of Mandrem constituency and chairman of the organising committee, expressed pride claiming, “It’s an occasion for pride for Goans that an international level competition is being held in our beautiful Goa.”
The event will be live-streamed on Fancode. Live broadcasts will be available on Sony Sports Ten’s SD and HD Sports Channels.
Dr. Pramod Sawant, chief minister of Goa, expressed his enthusiasm for Goa to be recognized not just for its scenic beaches but also for hosting international sporting events, stating “Goa will now be known for Sun Sand Sea and Sports as well.” continuing, “It’s a huge pride for our state to have both the National games and the Volleyball Pro-Tour in October.”
