PORVORIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said Goa is set to roll out the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign from September 17, with a strong focus on sustainable tourism, environmental protection, and citizen participation.
The State has identified 36 public spaces for transformation into vibrant, tourist-friendly zones, while over 95 cleanliness drives will be carried out across beaches, bus stands, markets, schools, and water bodies. “The campaign is not just about cleanliness—it is about making Goa a model state for eco-friendly tourism and sustainable living,” Rane said after chairing a review meeting with the Chief Secretary and senior officials from Urban Development, Tourism, Panchayat, Environment, Rural Development, Health Services, and the Goa Waste Management Corporation.
As part of the drive, zero-waste events and eco-friendly celebrations will be promoted, alongside initiatives such as Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (RRR) collection drives, waste-to-art installations, rallies, and school competitions to spread awareness.
The campaign will also place emphasis on the welfare of sanitation workers, with 43 medical camps planned for Safai Karamcharis, providing preventive health check-ups, safety training, and welfare linkages.
The movement will culminate on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti, with Swachhata Diwas, honouring outstanding contributions towards cleanliness and celebrating Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean India.
