PANAJI: Several districts in Goa are expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 4-5 days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
n continuation of the previous forecasts with active monsoon conditions persisting over Goa, moderate to heavy rainfall is very likely at most places over North Goa & South Goa districts of the state on June 29, 30 and July 1, 2 and 3, 2023,” said the IMD in a statement.
“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at a few places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the state on June 30, 2023 to July 3, 2023,” the IMD also said.
According to the weather department,several states are expected to receive heavy rainfall in the coming few days.
Naresh Kumar, senior scientist at the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday said, “Monsoon is in its advanced stage and is active. We can see clouds over Kokan, Goa, Central India, as well as Northeastern states.”
Rains continue to pound Goa for 3rd consecutive day. Normal life was thrown out of gear due to incessant rain in most parts of Goa.
There are reports of uprooting of trees & flooding of roads from different parts. A huge tree collapsed near Mahalaxmi temple in Panaji.
The retaining wall of St Brito school collapsed once again. Fortunately, there were no casualty. Last year, one woman crossing this road in car was injured due to collapse of retaining wall.
Heavy rainfall occurred at a few places and moderate rainfall occurred at most places over the state of Goa. Pernem- 8 cm; Ponda, Sanguem & Margao-7 cm each. Panaji-6 cm; Canacona, Ela(Old Goa) & Mormugao-5 cm each; Mapusa-4 cm; Sanquelim-3 cm & Dabolim 2 cm.
