Panaji: As part of the World Tourism Day 2025 celebrations, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, in association with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), SKAL International Goa and the Yuva Tourism Club, curated a series of experiential activities highlighting the state’s rich heritage and biodiversity.
The week-long initiatives included a Heritage Walk at the historic Aguad Port & Jail Complex, a serene ‘Picnic by the Forest Stream’ in Bicholim, and an immersive Nature Experience at Carambolim Lake. The programmes aimed to showcase Goa’s “Beyond Beaches” identity by connecting participants with the state’s cultural legacy, pristine forests and wetland ecosystems.
Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, said, “Through such inclusive and diverse programmes, we are reinforcing our vision of positioning Goa as a leader in regenerative tourism. By blending heritage, nature and community experiences, we are creating meaningful engagements for students, stakeholders and visitors alike.”
Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, noted, “These initiatives not only provide unique insights into Goa’s ecology and heritage but also sensitise participants to sustainability and responsible travel. The overwhelming participation from schools, colleges and tourism partners inspires us to further expand these efforts under the Yuva Tourism Club.”
The World Tourism Day celebrations in Goa will culminate with a Tourism Stakeholders’ Meet at Grand Hyatt Goa and a Film Festival at the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), showcasing stories of heritage and conservation.
