Panaji: The Directorate of Transport has made it mandatory for all public service vehicles in Goa to be equipped with vehicle location tracking systems and emergency buttons by November 30, 2025.
In a public notice issued by Director of Transport P. Pravimal Abhishek (IAS), the department cited several inspections that found many vehicles either lacked these devices or had non-functional ones.
The directive, issued under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and in line with Rule 125-H and AIS-140 standards, aims to improve passenger safety and ensure better vehicle monitoring.
The department has warned that compliance will be strictly checked during fitness renewals and random inspections, and operators failing to meet the deadline may face action.
