Panjim: Goa University hosted a special ceremony on 19 November 2025 to celebrate the outstanding performances of its sports teams during the Inter University Championships 2024–25 and to officially send off the squads selected for the Khelo India University Games 2025 in Rajasthan. The gathering highlighted the institution’s growing sports culture and the achievements of its young athletes across major disciplines.
The event was attended by senior university officials, including the Registrar, who commended the players for their commitment, resilience, and consistently strong performances throughout the season. The ceremony recognised three teams for their exceptional results in the previous academic year. The women’s football team emerged victorious in the West Zone Inter University Football Championship held in Kota, while the men’s football team secured the title at the corresponding West Zone tournament conducted in Vadodara. The beach volleyball men’s team was acknowledged for qualifying for the Khelo India University Games 2025.
In addition to the felicitation, the university organised a ceremonial send-off for the two teams selected to compete at the upcoming national event in Rajasthan. The women’s football squad and the men’s beach volleyball pair will represent Goa University at one of the country’s premier university-level competitions.
The women’s football contingent includes Simran Narvekar, Tanvi Parulekar, Blessica Rodrigues, Saniya Vivekanand Pednekar, Flani Costa, Ria Rajesh, Tanvi D. Khedekar, Aaroshi Govekar, Geuel D’souza, Swellen Fernandes, Merecia Tavares, Shaundelle Gomes, Jovinia D’silva, Riya Patre, Vanisha Vaz, Vinoshka Fernandes, Rizella Almeida, Anoshka Dsouza, Pearl Ruby De Almeida and Lysandra Rodrigues. The support staff comprises Head Coach Rayan Pereira, Assistant Coach Worrel D’souza and Manager Synora Picardo.
The beach volleyball team will be represented by student athletes Prabal Sawant and Tejas Gaus, guided by Coach Rama K. Dhawaskar.
The university community came together to celebrate the accomplishments of its sports talents and to inspire the athletes as they prepare to compete at the national level, carrying the hopes of Goa University to the Khelo India University Games 2025.
