Team Goemkarponn
PANAJI: From January 6 to 9, 2025, the West Zone Inter-University Chess Men Championship 2024-25, hosted by I.E.S. University in Bhopal, saw intense competition among 69 university teams. Goa University’s chess team emerged with a notable achievement, securing the 8th position in this prestigious tournament.
The team’s success was highlighted by the individual performances of Ayush Shirodkar and Atharv Katkar, who won the ‘B’ Board and ‘C’ Board prizes, respectively. This recognition underscores the talent and dedication of the Goa University chess players.
The Goa University Chess Men team was composed of Atharv Katkar, Vinay Sutar, Vikas Naik, Zishan Khan, Aayush Shirodkar, and Vishal Redkar, with Dr. Satyavan Harmalkar serving as the team coach and manager. Their collective effort and strategic play were key factors in their impressive finish.
