PANAJI: Day 3 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2025-26 featured dominant performances at both the Goa University and Rosary College grounds. At Goa University Ground, Taleigao, Goa College of Engineering (GEC), Farmagudi, defeated Vidya Prabodhini College of Commerce, Education, Computer and Management, Porvorim, 5-2. Selwyn Fernandes opened the scoring for GEC in the 9th minute, followed by a goal from Vivek Kunkalkar for Vidya Prabodhini in the 15th minute. GEC surged ahead with Ruthik Gaonkar scoring in the 21st minute and Fernandes again in the 23rd minute, taking a 3-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, Aryan Carvalho and Vasudev Naik added goals in the 45th and 56th minutes, while Mehboob Tembake scored Vidya Prabodhini’s second in the 64th minute. Selwyn Fernandes was named the best performer for his decisive contributions.
In the second match at Goa University Ground, Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, dominated Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim, winning 5-0. Samir Gaonkar scored the opening goal in the 20th minute, with Suraj Gaonkar, Daksh Nadvimani, Viraj Govekar, and another goal from Samir Gaonkar in the 66th minute sealing the comprehensive victory. Samir Gaonkar was adjudged the best performer.
At Rosary College Ground, Navelim, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, was awarded a walkover against Kamaxi College, Verna, while Shree Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College of Arts & Commerce, Canacona, received a walkover against Goa College of Art, Altinho.
The championship will continue on September 24, with scheduled matches at Goa University Ground featuring Swami Vivekanand College versus Sridora Caculo College, Mapusa, at 9:30 a.m., followed by P.E.S R.N. College, Farmagudi, taking on Goa Medical College, Bambolim, at 11:00 a.m. At Rosary College Ground, Navelim, Agnel Institute of T&D, Assagao, will face Ganpat Parsekar College, Harmal, at 9:00 a.m., with Goa Dental College, Bambolim, playing Goa Multi-Faculty, Dharbandora, at 11:00 a.m. The tournament continues to showcase competitive football and emerging talent across Goa’s colleges.
