PANAJI: The eighth day of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2025-26 produced a series of thrilling encounters at both the University Ground and Rosary Ground. At the University Ground, Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, outclassed Dhempe College of Arts & Science, Miramar, with a resounding 8-0 win. Seven goals came in the first half with strikes from Pritam Basak, Ruben (2), Tanvesh, Shaniel Lucas (2) and Joven Fernandes, while Nayan Chetri added another in the second half. The second match saw Srinivassa Sinai Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, advance via walkover against Goa College of Music, Altinho. Later, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, defeated P.G. Goa University 3-0, with Rohan Yadav opening the scoring in the 15th minute before Joshua Caveia sealed the win with goals in the 39th and 68th minutes, earning him the Best Performer award.
At the Rosary Ground, Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola, registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College, Assagao, courtesy of a late strike by Gaurav Kaulekar in the 70th minute. The second match was dominated by Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim, who thrashed Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, Pernem, 8-0. Star forward Saish Gaonkar netted four goals, supported by braces from Prince Figueredo and additional strikes from Tohid Yattanale and Pranay Velip, with Gaonkar earning the Best Performance award. In the final game, Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim, overpowered Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College, Pernem, 6-0, as Ramnath Parab scored four times alongside goals from Aayan Maldar and Heramb Sawant, with Parab named Best Performer.
The next round of fixtures will be played on October 3, 2025. At the Goa University Ground, Goa Engineering College will face Govt. College Quepem at 10:00 a.m., S. Caculo College will meet Goa Medical College at 2:00 p.m., and Fr. Agnel College, Pilar, will clash with S. S. Dempo College, Cujira, at 3:15 p.m. Meanwhile, at Rosary College, Navelim, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, will play Shree Mallikarjun College at 9:00 a.m., M.E.S College, Zuarinagar, will take on G.V.M’s College, Farmagudi, at 11:00 a.m., and Govt. College, Khandola, will battle C.E.S College, Cuncolim, at 2:00 p.m.
