PANAJI: The Goa University Inter-Collegiate Women’s Football Championship 2025-26 reached an exciting milestone on Day 5, September 22, as the quarter-final matches concluded at Goa University Ground and Rosary College Ground, setting the stage for the semi-finals.
At the Goa University Ground, Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, stormed into the semi-finals with a dominant 5-0 victory over Govt. College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem. Merecia Tavares opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed quickly by Fatima Braganza in the 17th minute. Ria Rajesh (32’), Franzila Rato (42’), and Vinoshka Fernandes (52’) completed the convincing win.
In the second quarter-final at the same venue, St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, overwhelmed VVM’s Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics, Margao, with a spectacular 7-0 triumph. Leandra Fernandes struck early in the 4th minute, and Tanvi doubled the lead two minutes later. Prachi Pawar added two more goals in the 11th and 27th minutes. The second half saw Simran Narvekar net a hat-trick at 52’, 60’, and 62’, sealing a comprehensive win for St. Xavier’s.
At Rosary College Ground, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, edged past Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar, with a 2-0 scoreline, both goals scored by Raynel Dias in the 22nd and 50th minutes. In the second quarter-final, Don Bosco College, Panjim, showcased an impressive performance against Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, securing a 5-0 victory. Blessica Rodrigues opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, Thais Mascarenhas added two goals (28’ & 40’), and Flani Costa completed the scoring with goals in the 53rd and 59th minutes.
The semi-final matches are scheduled for September 23 at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim: Rosary College, Navelim, will face St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, at 2:00 p.m., followed by Don Bosco Engineering, Fatorda, against Don Bosco College, Panjim, at 4:00 p.m.
