PANAJI: Day 6 of the Goa University Inter-Collegiate Women’s Football Championship 2025-26 witnessed commanding performances at the SAG Athletics Stadium, Bambolim, as Rosary College of Commerce & Arts, Navelim, and Don Bosco College, Panjim, booked their spots in the finals with emphatic 5-0 victories.
In the first semi-final, Rosary College overwhelmed St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa, with a dominant display. The team opened the scoring early, with Vinoshka Fernandes netting the first goal in the 4th minute, followed by Ria Pinto in the 9th minute, taking a 2-0 lead into halftime. The second half saw continued offensive pressure, with Merecia Tavares scoring in the 57th minute, Swellen Fernandes in the 63rd, and Vinoshka Fernandes adding her second goal in the 89th minute. Vinoshka Fernandes was named Best Performer for her outstanding contribution.
In the second semi-final, Don Bosco College, Panjim, defeated Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao, by the same margin. The first half saw Kanishka Rekdo score via a header in the 38th minute, followed by Blessica Rodrigues in the 40th minute to make it 2-0 at halftime. The second half featured three more goals: Flani Costa struck twice in the 50th and 65th minutes, and Blessica Rodrigues added her second in the 68th minute. Flani Costa earned the Best Performer accolade for her decisive efforts.
The Women’s Final is scheduled for September 24, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the SAG Athletics Stadium, Bambolim, where Don Bosco College, Panjim, will face Rosary College, Navelim, in what promises to be an exciting contest for the championship title.
