PANAJI: In a spectacular display of speed, agility, and endurance, Goa University’s 37th Inter-Collegiate Athletics Championship brought together over 1,000 athletes from 47 colleges, setting the stage for a thrilling competition. The event, held from February 27 to March 1, 2025, at S.A. G’s Athletics Stadium, Bambolim, utilized advanced photo finish technology to ensure accuracy and fairness in track events. This year’s championship was marked by exceptional performances, with five records shattered across various disciplines.
The championship kicked off with Prof. Sunder N. Dhuri, Registrar of Goa University, as the chief guest, inaugurating the event. Over the three days, athletes competed fiercely, resulting in new benchmarks in the 4×400 Relay Women, 100 M Hurdle Women, 100 M Run Men, 800 M Run Women, and Hammer Throw Men events. Don Bosco College, Panjim, emerged victorious in the women’s category, while Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College and Research Center, Assagao, claimed the men’s title. Moses Mascarenhas and Shimron Nathan were honored as the Best Athlete Male and Female, respectively.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by notable figures, including Professor Vikas J. Pissurlekar and Mrs. Anura Prabhu Dessai, who presented trophies and medals to the winners. This event not only showcased the athletic prowess of Goa’s collegiate talent but also highlighted the commitment to excellence and innovation in sports within the region.
