Anjuna: The Vagator–Caisua Taxi Owners Association and local resident Yogesh Govekar have filed a police complaint against Vasco-based driver Devendra Satardekar, accusing him of illegally operating Uber taxis in Goa, issuing threats, and using abusive language.
The complaint, lodged at Anjuna Police Station, alleges that Satardekar—described as a “habitual offender” with multiple FIRs registered against him—has been running his vehicle through an unlicensed aggregator app in violation of state transport regulations.
According to the complainants, after an old video of Satardekar admitting to illegal Uber operations resurfaced online amid renewed political debate over app-based taxis, he allegedly began making threatening calls and sending abusive WhatsApp voice notes. The messages reportedly contained derogatory remarks, threats of physical harm to the complainants and their families, and attempts to provoke others into filing false cases against them.
The complainants also claim Satardekar held a press conference on August 7, where he again admitted to running Uber taxis while making statements intended to discredit local taxi stands. They have submitted call recordings, WhatsApp chats, and voice notes as evidence.
The association has reiterated its opposition to app-based taxi services, saying they undermine traditional Goan taxi drivers and harm the local economy. The complaint also names another Vasco resident, Somnath Korgaonkar, alleged to be acting as a mediator for Uber operations in the state.
Police have confirmed receipt of the complaint and said an inquiry is underway.
