Panaji: In a vibrant celebration of linguistic and cultural heritage, Dr. Dada Vaidya College of Education, under the auspices of Goa Vidyaprasarak Mandal, hosted the ‘Indradhanushya’ program for the third consecutive year. This event not only highlighted the importance of education through the mother tongue but also showcased the rich tapestry of talent in languages and subjects. At the forefront was Sahitya Akademi Award winner Dr. Prakash Paryenkar, who emphasized the significance of the Konkani language in today’s educational landscape.
The program, which took place on March 20th, began with a melodious welcome song and the traditional lighting of the lamp, setting a warm and inclusive atmosphere. Dr. Prakash Paryenkar, accompanied by guest of honor Mr. Krishna Shetye and special guest Mr. Girish Kelekar, graced the occasion. The event’s cornerstone was the release of ‘Parmal’, a publication showcasing the literary and artistic talents of the students. This was a testament to the program’s goal of nurturing creativity and fostering a deep connection with the Konkani language and heritage.
One of the highlights of the program was the inclusion of seven diverse competitions: Science Philosophy, Saptasur, Our Goa, Poetry Concert, Mathematics in Nature, History, and Painting. These competitions drew talented participants from various subjects, demonstrating their creativity and knowledge. The students’ presentations not only celebrated their academic prowess but also reflected their deep connection with the Konkani language.
The program also featured insightful speeches by Mr. Girish Kelekar, who spoke about the late Jnanpithkar Rabindrabab Kelekar, and Mr. Krishna Shetye, who emphasized the relevance of the Konkani language in contemporary times. Dr. Prakash Paryenkar’s address underscored the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in education, especially when students learn through their mother tongue. The event culminated in a memento distribution ceremony and the awarding of prizes to the winners of the competitions. The rolling Trophy was bestowed upon the teams Trishul and Srijan. Moderated by Mahima Kavlekar and Prajita Pagi, the program concluded with gratitude expressed by Vaibhavi Desai.
