PANAJI: Two days after raking up a major controversy on St Francis Xavier, Subhash Velingkar said that there is nothing communal in his statement, and it was issues of Goa vs. Portuguese oppressors
Taking to the social media platform after the uproar and one complaint, Velingkar said, “GOA FILES.” Nothing to do with Communal Harmony; It is STRICTLY “Goa v/s Portuguese Oppressors” matter!”
He further questioned did Goa inquisition take place or not? Did atrocities happen or not? Who was responsible for this Due to whose letter did this inquisition take place?
“Whom did Francis Xavier protect? The Portuguese! And from whom did he protect the Portuguese from? Sambhaji Maharaj who had come to finish Portuguese in Goa. How can someone who brought inquisition on Goa be called ‘Goencho Saib’,” he said?
He further said he is bringing truth in front of people and is not anti-national.
“This is purely Portuguese Vs. Nationalism. Goa files will be released on 3rd May, and also the 20 days awareness program,” said Subhash Velingkar.
In a significant controversy, Hindu Raksha Maha Aghadi convenor Subhash Velingkar said that St Francis Xavier could not be called Saib.
Velingkar also said that he would launch a campaign called ‘The Goa Filesto make Lord Parshuram as ‘Goencho Saib.’
“St Francis Xavier cannot be called Goencho Saib. This is anti-national and a fraud. St Francis Xavier cannot be called ‘Goencho Saib’ from the nationalist point of view and on humanitarian grounds,” said Velingkar during a press conference.
He further said that St Francis Xavieas Goencho Saib was a creation for the colonial Portuguese.
Taking his statement further, Velingkar said that St Francis Xavier always worked to enhance further and expand the Portuguese fortress in Goa.
He claimed that Lord Parshuram should be called Goencho Saib and also said that Goa is known to be the land of Lord Parshuram.
Velingkar said that Hindu Raksha Maha Aghadi would celebrate the anniversary of Lord Parshuram on May 3 and, on that day will launch the Goa Files campaign across Goa for the next 20 days to create awareness that Lord Parshuram is the Goencho Saib of Goa.
The Moghuls invaded Sambhaji’s kingdom, forcing him to cut short his conquering spree. Consequently, the city of Goa was saved. All considered this as a miracle of St Francis Xavier. It is from this time that the people of Goa gradually started revering St Francis Xavier as Goencho Saib or protector of Goa
