PANAJI: Goa won the gold medal in the men’s double event while Maharashtra bagged silver medal as it was curtains on the 33rd Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship at the Indoor Hall of Divisional Sports Complex in Mankapur.
In the men’s doubles final Goa beat Maharashtra 2-0 (21-12, 21-15) to lift the crown.
In the semi-finals Maharashtra beat Kerala 2-0 (21-18, 21-12) while Goa got the better of Rajasthan 2-0 (2-13, 2-17).
Earlier in last eight matches, Goa beat AP 2-1 (21-11, 20-22, 21-18), Rajasthan beat Telangana 2-0 (21-17, 21-17), Kerala defeated Uttarakhand 2-0 (21-11, 21-16) and Maharashtra ousted West Bengal 2-0 (21-16, 21-13). Goa won the gold medal in the women’s doubles event while Andhra Pradesh bagged silver medal. In the final, Goa beat Andhra Pradesh 2-0 (21-13, 21-12). In the semi-finals, Goa beat Delhi 2-0 (21-14, 21-16) and Andhra Pradesh beat Karnataka by an identical 2-0 margin (21-19, 21-07).
In quarter-finals Goa defeated Odisha 2-0 (21-13, 21-07), Delhi blanked Tamil Nadu 2-0 (21-08, 21-08), Karnataka edged past West Bengal 2-1 (21-07, 19-21, 21-15) and Andhra Pradesh beat Maharashtra 2-1 (21-18, 13-21, 21-17).
SSB won the gold in the women’s quad event while Manipur bagged silver medal. In the final of women’s quad event SSB beat Manipur 2-1 (20-22, 21-14, 21-17). Earlier in the semis, Manipur beat Nagaland 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) while SSB blanked Assam 2-0 (21-13, 21-13). In quarters, Manipur beat MP 2-0 (21-3, 21-3) Nagaland beat Haryana 2-0 (21-19, 21-16), SSB beat Odisha 2-0 (21-12, 21-11) and Assam beat Uttar Pradesh 2-0 (21-10, 21-17). SSB won the gold medal in men’s quad event defeating Delhi 2-1 (21-16,20-22,21-19).

Prof Pratishruti Singh Agrawal, Assistant Prof, Department of Humanities, RCOEM, Yogendra Singh Dahiya, Deputy President Asian Sepak Takraw Federation, Premraj, President, Sepak Takraw Federation of India, Veere Gowda, Secretary General, Sepak Takraw Federation of India, Vipin Kamdar, President, Maharashtra Sepak Takraw Association, Trupti Kamdar, Chairman of the Development Committee, Maharashtra Sepak Takraw Association, Yogendra Pandey, Secretary, Maharashtra Sepak Takraw Association, Lalit Jiwani, Treasurer, Maharashtra Sepak Takraw Association, Dr Amrita Pande, Organising Secretary, Maharashtra Sepak Takraw Association were also present during the prize distribution function.
