Team Goemkarponn
PANAJI: The Goa Yoga Association delivered an impressive performance at the 50th Sub Junior and Junior National Yogasana, Artistic, Rhythmic and Sports Championship, with the state team securing one silver medal and two bronze medals at the prestigious national event held in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
The championship was conducted from December 27 to 30, 2025, under the aegis of the Yoga Federation of India and organised by the Jharkhand Yoga Association. The Goa Yoga Association, recognised by the Sports Authority of Goa, deputed a talented group of young athletes to represent the state at the national level.
The Goa contingent included Sahara B Madara, Sania S Surlkar, Harshita Dhiraj Murgaokar, Tusu S Manna, Kathyayani M Honawarkar, Kirthi S Itagi, Aashnee Damodar Bhat Sarmalkar, Master Om Damodar Govenkar and Master Yashwant B Madar. The team was guided by senior coach Damodar Govenkar, with Ashwini Churi serving as the girls’ coach.
The highlight of the team’s performance came in the Artistic Pair Boys category, where Master Yashwant B Madar and Master Om Damodar Govenkar clinched the silver medal with a strong and technically sound routine. In the Artistic Pair Girls category, Kathyayani M Honawarkar and Tusu S Manna earned bronze medals, adding to Goa’s medal tally.
Tusu S Manna and Sahara B Madara finished fifth in the Rhythmic Pair Girls event, while Master Om Damodar Govenkar secured fourth place in Artistic Solo Boys. Master Yashwant B Madar finished fifth in the same category, and Kirthi S Itagi placed sixth in Artistic Solo Girls. Harshita Dhiraj Murgaokar and Aashnee Damodar Bhat Sarmalkar received consolation prizes for their performances.
The medal winners and coaching staff were felicitated by Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar at a ceremony held in Amonem, Canacona, during the Lokotsav and Tribal Sports Festival. The minister praised the athletes and coaches for their dedication and consistent success at consecutive national championships, calling their achievement a proud moment for Goa yoga sports.
