PANAJI: The Goan environmental short film Act To Achieve, directed by Mario Pimenta, has been officially selected for screening at the Egyptian American Film Festival (EAFF), scheduled from October 31 to November 4, 2025, at the Center for the Arts, Staten Island, New York.
The festival, held under the banner “Cinema for Humanity”, received over 5,100 submissions from around the world this year.
The 2025 edition pays tribute to the legendary Egyptian actor Adel Imam, celebrating his cultural and cinematic legacy.
Act To Achieve delivers a strong environmental message, urging viewers to take immediate action against climate change rather than waiting for others to lead.
The short film was shot entirely on a mobile phone, highlighting how technology and creativity can combine to produce impactful and accessible cinema.
In addition to Mario Pimenta, contributors Sharvi Dhond and Craig Rodrigues helped film key sequences, emphasizing the collaborative nature of the project.
The Egyptian American Film Festival is an annual New York event that bridges art, science, and culture, honoring films and individuals whose work advances humanity through storytelling, innovation, and creativity.
The selection of a Goan environmental film for such a prestigious international platform marks a significant achievement for local cinema and environmental advocacy.
