Panaji: Just when the pandemic has receded and tourism season was showing signs of picking up, the taxi operators have to deal with yet another problem – outstation taxis.
The taxi operators on Monday met the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant asking him to act against the illegal outstation taxis doing business in various hotels in the State.
Laxman Korgaonkar, taxi operator from Nerul told reporters that they met CM who has assured to take action.
“Several outstaion taxis are doing business in hotels while the Goan operators are left at lurch,” he said.
Sources revealed these taxis and buses have been brought for ISL Premier league football.
He said when the vehicles from other states were confronted the y said they are here as there is no business in their state due to pandemic.
“Vehicles from Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana etc etc are doing business. The taxi business in Goa should only be for Goans, he said.
He said the oeprators had last week raised the issue with Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho but there has been no action so far.
