PONDA: Fatorda MLA and Goa Forward Party President Vijai Sardesai has condemned the BJP government over MRF Tyres’ recruitment drive, calling it a “blatant betrayal of Goan youth.”
MRF Tyres, approved to create 1,250 jobs for Goans, is hiring 250 trainees for its Ponda unit. However, interviews are being held on 12 September in Kudal, Maharashtra, instead of Goa.
Sardesai questioned whether the BJP’s approval was intended to prioritize Maharashtra youth over Goans, saying, “This is not just a recruitment drive—it is an attack on the future of Goan youth. The government, which promised jobs and ‘Swayampurna Goa’, remains silent as corporates bypass locals.”
He urged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to intervene, ensure the recruitment is held in Goa, and guarantee that Goans get first preference for jobs. “Goemkars’ future cannot be outsourced. Goa’s jobs must go to Goans first,” Sardesai emphasized.
