PANAJI: WRD Minister, Shri Subhash Shirodkar in the presence of MLA, Curchorem, Nilesh Cabral inaugurated the developed and beautified existing bund at Nanda Lake at Ghotmarad Kakoda in Curchorem constituency today.
The work has been done at the cost of Rs.1 crore.
While speaking on the occasion Minister, Shirodkar said, it looks very nice looking at the beautifully developed project. People’s Cooperation is very important for the development. All elected representatives should keep a positive attitude so that people will also stand behind them. Goenkars should look into the positive side of development when it is for the betterment of the State he said. We should maintain nature. Bird watchers from the world will come to this lake to capture and study the various birds in this lake, he said.
MLA, Shri Cabral said, Nanda Lake has been highlighted on the world map as a Ramsar Site. Only three Ramsar Sites are there in the country. To take all the developments in the near future as a biodiversity site support and cooperation of the locals is important, he added.
Chairperson, of Curchorem Cacora Municipal Council, Shri Damodar alias Prassana Bhende said a lot of development is visible in the Municipal area.
Ward Councillor, Shri Vishwas Dessai said it was a long pending demand of the locals which has been fulfilled. Rs.75 crores has been sanctioned for development of full Nanda Lake which has been declared as Ramsar Site as it is a wetland area of international importance for the conservation of biodiversity and for its ecosystem services.
Zilla Panchayat Member, Shri Siddharth Gauns Dessai; Executive Engineer, Shri Pravin Parsekar, Shri Mohan Raikar and others were present on the occasion.
