PANAJI: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa on Friday launched its state-wide campaign “BJPChe Gundaraj Goyank Naka” (Goa doesn’t want BJP’s Gundaraj) to protest what it described as the collapse of law and order under Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s leadership.
Addressing the media in Panaji, AAP Goa President Adv. Amit Palekar said the campaign would reach every corner of the state to mobilise Goans against rising attacks and growing lawlessness.
“This Diwali, it’s time to end the Narksur of Gundaraj that has destroyed Goa’s peace. Today Rama Kankonkar was attacked, tomorrow it could be any of us. Before BJP’s Gundaraj reaches our own families, we must unite and stop it,” Palekar urged.
AAP National Spokesperson Valmiki Naik echoed Palekar’s concerns, warning that Goans today live in fear under the current regime.
“Whoever raises their voice against the BJP government is attacked — activists, businesspersons, opposition leaders. The Gundas are not in jail; they are inside the BJP itself,” Naik said.
Naik also held Chief Minister Pramod Sawant — who also handles the Home portfolio — directly responsible for what he termed as a “complete failure” in maintaining law and order. He said that in the past six years, crime has surged while Goa’s identity as a peaceful state has been destroyed.
“The BJP is protecting and nurturing Gundas for its own political and personal gains. Ordinary citizens are left to suffer, while fear is deliberately spread to silence dissent,” Naik alleged.
Referring to the brutal attack on social activist Rama Kankonkar, Naik stressed that it was not just an assault on one individual but a chilling message to the entire state.
“This is an attack on Goa’s voice itself. Rama is now battling not only physical injuries but also deep mental trauma. This is exactly what BJP wants — to silence anyone who dares to speak up. We must unite and put a full stop to this politics of fear,” Naik said.
