Panaji: Goa’s Dr Ankush Patil delivered an impressive performance at the All India Doctors Badminton Tournament, claiming two silver medals in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Singles 35 plus categories. Fellow Goan Dr Felix Dias also finished on the podium, earning silver in the Men’s Singles 60 plus division as the tournament concluded at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium.
In the Men’s Singles final, Dr Abhiram emerged champion, with Patil finishing runner up after a competitive contest. Patil once again had to settle for second place in the 35 plus category, where Dr Ketan Sinha secured the title. In the 60 plus segment, Dr Dyaneshwar Shinde defeated Dias in the final to clinch the top honour.
The Men’s Singles 50 plus crown was won by Dr Budi Prakash Murty, who overcame Dr Sudesh Tiwari in the title clash.
In the women’s events, Dr Resham Payak captured the Women’s Singles title with a victory over Dr Rusva Mistry. The Women’s Doubles championship went to Dr Neha Sharma and Dr Sezal Singh, who defeated the pair of Dr Sanjotha and Dr Vinutha in the final.
The Mixed Doubles title was secured by Dr Abhiram and Dr Sanjotha after they overcame Dr Abhishek Verma and Dr Neha Sharma. In the Men’s Doubles category, Dr Anirudh and Dr Ibrahim triumphed against Dr Vikyath Narayan and Dr Vikas. The Men’s Doubles 35 plus title was claimed by Abhishek Chauhan and Abhishek Verma, who beat Dr Dhaval Fadadu and Dr Rohan in the final.
In the Men’s Doubles 60 plus section, Dr Ramanuj Marda and Dr D Shinde emerged winners after defeating Dr Danish and Dr Hemanth Sathe.
The national level tournament was organised by Mighty Sports with support from the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs.
