MARGAO: Government College of Commerce and Economics, Borda, under the aegis of the Directorate of Higher Education, has installed the first of its kind, “”Assessment Lab”” in the presence of Deputy Director, DHE, Prof Dr F.M. Nadaf and Director of the IQAC of the College, Dr Elizabeth Joey Henriques.
Directorate of Higher Education, Goa state, had roped in ideas Unlimited, a leading consulting firm, into Assessment centre development. Based on the Centre for Research in Experiential Aids in teaching & Education”” (CREATE-LABS) of GDP Foundation, this first-of-its-kind Assessment Lab has been established to augment NEP 2020 in higher education as per its framework.
The Assessment Lab is designed and curated by Mr Kishore Shah, Director Ideaz Unlimited & Managing Trustee GDP Foundation, a renowned Master Talent Analyst- Chally, Ohio USA & Organization Development Consultant of international repute.
The Lab has state-of-the-art talent assessment tools/techniques, including props for simulations (indoors and outdoors), case studies, role plays, exercises and books on Talent management. It also has curated folders with content distilled from the rich and varied experiences on Assessment, Competencies, Behavioural indicators, Moderation, integration, briefing, debriefing and success discovery conversations, along with an exclusive section on psychometric assessment.
The Train the Trainer and certification of faculties on Talent Assessment would be undertaken at the Lab, followed by a three months internship under the guidance of Kishore Shah and his team. The trained faculty would then begin Talent assessment for the undergraduate students and themselves move to the role of Transformation Coach as envisaged in NEP 2020.
Post assessment, each student will be provided with an Individual growth & Development Report (IDP), which will be monitored and reviewed to transform their potential into performance. Simultaneously, the Assessment Centre will initiate its outreach program to various industries/businesses, and explore emerging career options for its students, thereby completing the sequel end to end.
The Lab would also serve industries’ requirements for the assessment of their employees, thus creating a much-required and intense Industry – Institute association which is mutually beneficial.
The installation of the Lab was marked with the conduct of the foundation orientation workshop for faculties which covered topics like the Essence of NEP 2020, Employability Challenges /untapped potential, Assessment Lab, and Teachers as “”Transformation Coach”.
The trained faculty were awarded Certificates.
