PANAJI: Goa is making significant strides in women’s empowerment through its flagship schemes—Mamta, Ladli Laxmi, and Griha Aadhar—each tailored to support women at different stages of life. With over 3.5 lakh beneficiaries collectively, these initiatives reflect a robust, life-stage-based welfare model that aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of building an Atmanirbhar Nari Shakti.
The Mamta scheme has provided essential maternal care to more than 78,000 women, ensuring support during pregnancy and early motherhood. The Ladli Laxmi scheme, aimed at empowering young girls through financial assistance for education and marriage, has reached over 88,000 beneficiaries. Meanwhile, Griha Aadhar continues to play a critical role in strengthening household stability by offering monthly financial assistance to over 1.86 lakh women, predominantly homemakers, easing the burden of daily expenses.
“These schemes form a comprehensive framework that supports women at every critical point in their lives,” said Vishwajit Rane, Goa’s Minister for Women and Child Development. “We are committed to creating an ecosystem where every woman in Goa is secure, supported, and self-reliant.”
By integrating health, education, and financial support, Goa’s model of women’s welfare is delivering tangible results on the ground. The state’s structured approach not only uplifts individual women and families but also serves as a replicable model for inclusive, grassroots-led development across the country.
