Panaji: Manohar International Airport in Goa has marked a significant milestone with the launch of its first mango export of the season. GMR Goa Air Cargo successfully facilitated the shipment of 3,368 kilograms of fresh Alphonso mangoes from Sindhudurg, located in the Konkan belt, to Sharjah, UAE. The consignment was sent via Air Arabia and coordinated by “ShivKonkan Farmer Producer Company Limited” in partnership with “Shreevali Agro.”
This shipment marks the first-ever export of locally sourced mangoes from Goa to the UAE, opening a new international route for agricultural trade. Known for their rich flavor and aroma, Alphonso mangoes from Ratnagiri and Devgarh have consistently commanded high demand and premium pricing in both Middle Eastern and European markets.
With this successful operation, GMR Goa Air Cargo (GOX) has reinforced its role as a reliable logistics partner for temperature-sensitive goods such as fresh fruits. The GOX team ensures timely and careful air transport, supporting seamless trade operations for perishable commodities.
Looking ahead, the demand for Alphonso mangoes is surging, particularly in Europe. In response, GOX anticipates handling approximately 600 tons of mangoes this season, extending its reach to countries across the European Union and the Middle East.
This development not only boosts local agricultural exports but also positions Goa as a key player in the global fresh produce supply chain.
