PANAJI: In a proud moment for Goa and India, homegrown cake artist and baking educator Nadia Aslam has bagged the prestigious Cake Artist of the Year award at the Asia Cake Oscars 2025, held at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The glittering awards ceremony, hosted by the Sri Lanka Institute of Confectionery and Culinary Arts (SLICCA), recognised the best in Asian cake artistry, and Nadia emerged as a standout winner among top professionals from across the continent.
What makes this achievement all the more special is that Nadia was the only Goan invited to the event, which saw participation from 19 Indian delegates and celebrated culinary names from countries like Iran, Maldives, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka. Sharing the stage with stars like Swati Maheswari, Divya Saraf, Maria J, SK Atikur Rehman, and Anthony Bidesh, Nadia firmly cemented her place as a trailblazer in South Asia’s culinary world.
Nadia’s journey from a passionate home baker to an internationally acclaimed cake artist is nothing short of inspirational. A mother of three, she launched Nadia’s Sweetooth Studio in 2016 with a simple dream: to share her love for baking with her community. What started as a small studio in Goa quickly evolved into a powerhouse of creativity and entrepreneurship. Her signature desserts—ranging from layered cakes to Indian fusion treats like her famed motichoor truffles—have wowed both clients and celebrity chefs.
Chef Ranveer Brar once called her creation the “best cake I’ve had in Goa,” while Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna was left stunned by her innovative fusion of traditional Indian flavours with modern patisserie techniques.
But Nadia’s success isn’t limited to confections. She turned her studio into an educational hub, offering cake artistry workshops that have trained over 1000 students—many of whom now run their own thriving baking businesses across India. From homemakers seeking financial independence to aspiring chefs, Nadia’s Sweetooth has helped shape a new generation of bakers who carry her legacy of creativity and discipline.
Her dedication to empowering women through skill-based training has made Nadia not just a mentor but a movement within Goa’s growing culinary landscape.
The Asia Cake Oscars is more than a trophy—it’s one of the most respected recognitions in the region’s culinary scene, celebrating not just artistic flair but innovation, impact, and community contribution. Held annually, the event features competitions, live exhibitions, and showcases the best talents in cake artistry.
Nadia’s work stood out for its fusion of Indian flavours and modern aesthetics, a hallmark of the Sweetooth brand. Her attention to detail and emotional storytelling through cakes captured the hearts of judges and guests alike.
While her cakes are stunning to look at, it’s the soul she pours into her work that makes Nadia truly exceptional. She believes every cake should tell a story—of celebration, memory, or love. Each creation is crafted not just with skill, but with deep personal meaning, often invoking nostalgia or joy.
Even as her brand scaled up, Nadia remained committed to community-building. She continues to offer mentorship and support to her former students, many of whom credit her with giving them the confidence to pursue their dreams. Sweetooth has thus become more than a brand—it’s a family of creators inspired by Nadia’s example.
With the Asia Cake Oscar now part of her growing list of accolades, Nadia is ready to take the next leap. Plans are underway to franchise Sweetooth across India and launch advanced courses and global mentorship programs for aspiring bakers throughout South Asia.
But for Nadia, the goal goes beyond expansion. “Winning the award is an honour,” she says, “but more than the recognition, it’s about inspiring others. I want people—especially women—to know that if you chase your passion with purpose, success will follow.”
In a world hungry for shortcuts, Nadia Aslam stands out for doing things the slow, sweet, and soulful way. She hasn’t just baked cakes—she’s baked dreams.
And with the Asia Cake Oscar now hers, Nadia’s journey from Goa to global stardom is only getting started.
