PANAJI: The Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Cell, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Goa, has informed that In a significant step towards improving hearing care services in Goa, the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Cell, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Goa, has collaborated with Dmello Telepower Pvt. Ltd., a key Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner. This partnership has successfully secured a financial contribution of Rs. 22 lakhs, which has used to procure 290 state-of-the-art digital programmable hearing aids. These hearing aids, supplied by Oticon (Denmark), will be made available to eligible beneficiaries across both District Hospitals in Goa.
The new initiative highlights the critical importance of digital hearing aids, which are designed to offer enhanced clarity, personalization, and adaptability to various sound environments. Compared to traditional analog models, these advanced hearing aids provide a refined hearing experience, greatly improving the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments. The project is aimed at ensuring that individuals with hearing loss have better access to modern, effective hearing assistance technology.
In addition to providing hearing aids, the initiative has also focused on capacity-building for healthcare professionals. ENT Surgeons and Audiologists from both District Hospitals and the Goa Medical College and Hospital have undergone comprehensive training sessions. These sessions ensure that medical staff are equipped with the necessary skills to implement the program effectively, delivering the highest standard of care and support to beneficiaries.
This initiative is expected to significantly address the growing need for advanced hearing solutions in Goa, enhancing healthcare outcomes for individuals affected by hearing loss. It also strengthens the ongoing efforts of the Goa government to make modern healthcare solutions accessible to all, as informed by Department of Information and Publicity.
