Panaji : Goa’s boxing sensation Pralhad Panda is all set to defend his Indian Boxing Council (IBC) West Zone featherweight title at the highly anticipated Susegado Strike Fight Night 3, scheduled to take place on June 28 at Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Miramar. The event, backed by Goa Tourism, returns with its third edition and promises an adrenaline-filled evening featuring six professional bouts, including two women’s matches, showcasing talent from across India.
Panda, 29, hailing from Bastora, will headline the event in an eight-round title bout against Amit Kumar, 27, from Pune. Having clinched the featherweight crown in the previous edition, Pralhad is determined to defend his title on home soil. “Defending my belt in Goa means a lot to me. This is where I trained all my life. I intend to make this opportunity count,” said the confident champion.
Joining him in the ring will be fellow Goan pugilist Kailas Gauns, 30, from Chimbel, Panaji, who will square off against 22-year-old Prasad Katnoor from Virar in a super flyweight showdown. The event will also feature a strong lineup of fighters from across the country, each bringing their unique energy to the ring.
In the women’s division, Ramandeep Kaur, 28, from Bengaluru will face promising teenager Rupika Rani from Abohar, Punjab, in the super flyweight category, while Pune’s Amruta Kale, 25, takes on 19-year-old Saanvi Gandhi from Chennai in the light flyweight division. The men’s cruiserweight bout will feature Ashish Ahlawat against Mumbai-based fighter Taher Khuram, who is of Afghan origin. Another exciting match-up will see 22-year-old Maninder Singh from Barnala, Punjab, take on Bharany Velmurugan, 30, from Puducherry in a super lightweight clash.
All participating athletes are registered professionals with previous experience at the national level. While Pralhad’s title bout will be contested over eight rounds, the remaining fights are scheduled for six rounds each. The official weigh-in ceremony will be held on June 27 at Fitness Bar in Panaji and is expected to set the stage for the high-octane action on fight night.
According to Luigson Fernandes, co-founder of Susegado Strike, the event is more than just about boxing—it’s about cultivating a culture of professionalism and sportsmanship in Goa. “Susegado Strike isn’t just about the punches thrown in the ring. It’s a platform to give professional boxers in India consistent opportunities and to build a sporting culture around boxing here in Goa, with discipline and preparation at its core,” he said.
Clyde Lobo, also a co-founder, emphasized that selection for Fight Night 3 was strictly based on merit and match-readiness. “We believe every deserving boxer should get a chance to prove themselves. Each bout is carefully matched for competitiveness. Through Fight Night, our stellar Goan boxers also get a chance to perform on the big stage,” he said.
Adding to this, co-founder Prathamesh Naik noted that bringing the event back to Goa helps cement the state’s position in India’s growing professional boxing landscape. “We’re trying to build continuity, where the state is seen as a legitimate stage for national-level boxing talent. Susegado Strike Fight Night also presents a platform to promote sports tourism in Goa,” he stated.
With a well-matched fight card, local heroes in action, and the promise of fierce competition, Susegado Strike Fight Night 3 is shaping up to be a landmark sporting event for Goa—one that combines talent, grit, and the Goan spirit in the ring.
