PANAJI: Minister Mauvin Godinho said that he met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi to discuss how the state can get more revenue from GST.
GST Council Member Mauvin Godinho, along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi.
“The discussion was primarily on GST and increasing the state revenue; we discussed how the state can get more revenue from GST and other sources of revenue; also discussions were held pertaining to GST council meeting,” said Godinho
Speaking on Panchayat polls, Mauvin said there is no question of postponement.
“What is important is to conduct the triple test, and the Advocate General has also clearly opined that it should be referred to the Goa State Commission for Backward Classes,” said Godinho.
He further said that depending on what report the OBC Commission gives to the government, we would decide on holding elections,” he said, adding that there is no question of postponement. Elections to 186 panchayats are due before June 19.
The Minister said that the government must follow the Supreme Court order in letter and spirit. “All States are following it, and we have to follow it,” he said, adding that the government has acted instantly on the triple test, and the Goa State Commission for Backward Classes has been entrusted with this task.
