“We are pleased to inform that the Government of India has sanctioned Rs. 189 crores out of which 89 Crores has been released under the Department of Urban Development to upgrade water treatment plants across the state of Goa,” said Rane
He further said that this project is being implemented with the assistance of the CM Pramod Sawant and PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral.
“It will benefit the people at large by aiding proper distribution of water, propelling sustainable development & water conservation and improving urban infrastructure.” he added
A committee has been established by the DMA for project execution and management. This group will also ensure projects are completed within the said timeline.
The concerned COs of the municipalities will be held accountable for time bound implementation of the projects in coordination with the DMA & GSUDA. Action will be taken against the COs if they do not comply with the directions issued by the DMA & the Ministry for Urban Development.
COs are responsible for proper utilization of funds, taking the Chairpersons and Councilors into confidence thereby implementing the projects seamlessly. A circular will be issued stating that if the annual audit is not completed, money will not be released to the Municipalities. COs therefore need to ensure that the guidelines issued by the DMA are strictly implemented and enforced.
