PONDA: A woman was robbed of gold jewellery worth approximately ₹2.5 lakh by an unidentified scooter-borne assailant outside her residence in Ponda.
According to a complaint filed by Jaishree Patil, the incident occurred on January 26 at around 4.50 p.m. in front of her house, when an unknown person riding a scooter allegedly snatched her gold mangalsutra weighing about 40 grams, valued at nearly ₹1.5 lakh, along with a gold coriander seed chain (maal) weighing around 25 grams, worth approximately ₹1 lakh.
After committing the theft, the accused fled the scene on the scooter. Police have registered a case and launched a search to trace the suspect.
