PONDA: In a case of housebreaking and theft reported from Vagurme in Ponda, unidentified persons decamped with gold ornaments and cash collectively valued at approximately Rs 1.30 lakh.
According to a complaint lodged by Rasika Prabhu, a resident of Ponda, the incident occurred between 6:00 pm on February 20 and 3:30 pm on February 22, 2026. During the intervening period, unknown accused persons allegedly gained entry into the bedroom of her house by breaking open the latch of the back door.
The accused then allegedly stole gold ornaments worth around Rs 90,000 and cash amounting to Rs 40,000 from a cupboard kept in the bedroom before fleeing the scene.
Mardol Police have registered a case in connection with the theft. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Sushant Sangodkar of Mardol Police Station.
